You can read about applying transfers everywhere, but how you store them until pressing is just as important. Incorrectly stored transfers will curl, stick, or discolor. With these four rules, they stay perfect for months.
Rule 1: Cool & dry
Store transfers at room temperature or cooler, away from heating and moisture. Heat softens the adhesive, causing sheets to stick together.
Rule 2: Out of direct sunlight
UV light causes colors to fade over time. Keep transfers in a folder, box, or drawer, dark storage keeps colors fresh.
Rule 3: Flat, not rolled
Store sheets stacked flat. Long-term rolled storage causes curling edges that are difficult to flatten when pressing.
Rule 4: Separate sheets
Place a sheet of parchment paper between transfers if storing longer, so the adhesive layer of one doesn't bond to the film of another.
Rule of thumb
Properly stored, a DTF transfer stays perfectly pressable for at least 12 months. Notice curling edges anyway? Lay the sheet flat under a book, that's usually enough.
