What determines lifespan? Three things: transfer quality, how well you press, and how you wash the garment. Our DTF transfers are calibrated per batch with a white underbase, so color bonds rather than just sitting on top. Good pressing, 150°C, 15 seconds, even pressure, lets the adhesive bond into the fiber. That's the difference between a print that cracks after ten washes and one that lasts years.
5 tips for longer lifespan: 1. Wash at 30°C, inside out. This prevents the print from rubbing against the drum. 2. Use mild detergent, no bleach or fabric softener, these damage the adhesive layer. 3. Let the print cure for 24 hours before the first wash. 4. Dry on low heat or hang dry. Don't iron directly on the print. 5. A short post-press with parchment paper makes the print softer and more durable.
Good DTF outlasts flock or cheap vinyl transfers and approaches screen print durability, with the advantage of unlimited colors and fine details.
